Dr. Jay Dev Singh Negi, born on 30th August, 1943 in Uttarakhand. He did M. Sc. Botany from Agra University (1963), and Ph.D. in Forest Ecology from H.N.B. Garhwal University Srinagar, Uttarakhand (1984). He is retired as Scientist-F and Head, Forest Ecology and Environment Division, Forest research Institute (FRI), Dehradun. After working for a period of 39 years and 11 months of his service in various capacities. During his tenure in service he handled many important research projects on ecological management of forests and also extended consultancy of forest mortality, eco-restoration, hydro-electric project, climate change and many other applied field of ecology. He has also visited various universities of U.S.A. and U.S.D.A. Organizations to update himself in the field of climate change and its impact on forest ecosystem and its management. He thoroughly visited all the states of Australia with reference to nutrient cycling and enhancing productivity of Eucalyptus species. After retirement (September, 2003) he is actively and continuously extending consultancies to Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun, for forest management. He also delivers lectures on forest ecology at FRI University, Dehradun and other Universities. He is author of two books alongwith fifty three research articles and has guided twelve Ph.D. Scholars.
