Dr. S. Kavitha graduated B.sc., (Agri.) in 1999, M.Sc., (Agri.) and Ph.D. in Seed Science and Technology, respectively in 2002 and 2005 from Agricultural College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. She was awarded with Senior Research Fellowship for doctoral research. She joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Seed Science and Technology in 2009 and worked as a programme coordinator, KVK, Ramanathapuram since April 2018. Now she is working in the Department of Plant Genetic Resources, TNAU, Coimbatore since November, 2019. She has got ten years of experience in teaching, research and extension. She has authored three books, 23 book chapters and 22 popular articles and published 14 research articles in national and international journals. She has excellent research experience by heading eight research projects as Principal Investigator and 10 research projects as Co-Principal Investigator funded by various agencies. She has attended two International conferences, two International workshops, 20 National trainings, two 21 days trainings, seven National seminars and five workshops. She also conducted and co-ordinated various On Farm trials (OFt), Front Line Demonstrations (FLD), Farmers Field School (FFS), Integrated Farming System (IFS), Entrepreneur Development Programme (EDP), 88 on campus trainings, 32 off campus trainings, 3 vocational trainings, 6 seminars, 26 exhibitions, three sponsored trainings and delivered 78 special lectures as resource person to farmers and extension functionaries. She organized one ICAR winter school. She has guided two M.Sc. (Ag) students as chairperson. She was awarded with Dr.M. Balakumarasamy award for the best Ph.D. student in 2005, Thiru. V.K. Kumarasamy award and Coimbatore Seed Corporation prize for the best M.Sc., (Agri.) student in Seed Science and Technology in 2002 and also received best paper (oral) presentation and best poster presentation awards.
