Nanotechnology is the branch of science that deals with the
design, fabrication and application of nanostructures, nanomaterials and
fundamental understanding of the relationships between physical properties and
material dimensions (typically ranging from 1 to 100 nm). Nanostructured
materials (inorganic, organic, and biological) have existed in nature since the
evolution of life on Earth. The size reduction of a naturally existing material
to a nano scale would lead to a wide range of new physical and chemical
properties with great potential and applications. Nanotechnology has become an
